10: The Good Kind of Tired

We enjoyed probably our last long bike ride for the trip today (bike rental goes back tomorrow), and it was perfect weather for it! We headed 29 or so miles out to Silkeborg and had some memorable experiences to be sure, only to come home and boil a lobster, which may have been the most daring adventure of them all. In case anyone is concerned, I’m still an omnivore, but I can’t say I loved doing that to the poor girl (even if she did end up tasting delicious).

Before I sleep like the dead as one does after such a ride, I thought it’d be easy enough to post a few pictures from today.

Pretty cows!

Pretty cows, but watch out for that fence! Oww…Just kidding. 😉

Standing above a beautiful forest path, which just moments later a thoughtful woman passing by suggested we reroute onto for the rest of the way into Silkeborg. Great tip!

We came upon these hills covered in wild flowers--pretty neat!

The sunset on the way back was killer but unfortunately, inadequately photographed.

So what do we DO with this thing? And is it still alive by any chance (my irrational fear, not Greg's).

I am a middle school special education teacher in Chicago. I was fortunate enough to receive a Fund for Teachers grant that allows me to spend a month in Denmark, considered to be the happiest place on earth. I hope to use my experience to inspire my students to make choices that will increase their personal sense of well being.

  1. More fabulous pictures! You two must be in the greatest shape after all that biking and walking you have been doing-legs of steel I am sure (even with all that good eating! lol!) What a great time you are having! Looking forward to the updates from the Norway portion of your travels. :O)

    • I can’t believe you held back from saying something about the lobster, Mom! Haha, yes, I’d say the exercise here may just be outweighing the eating, luckily. It’s nice to have all of the extra time for yoga, walking, etc. It just feels so much better.

  2. Wow those views look amazing! 🙂

  3. Are tried of riding for so long time? I can’t believe the view looks so beautiful!

  4. It’s actually not as tiring as you’d think. Biking is one of the most efficient exercises–way less exhausting than walking or running that much. Going up hills was definitely hard on my legs, though, and I was breathing pretty hard! Chicago is so much flatter, I’m just not used to that incline!
